一般的なガラスは、砂などを原材料として作られるため、
光を強く反射しやすく、質量も重くなりがちです。
それをそのままジュエリーに用いると、指や耳に「ずしっ」と重さを感じることも少なくありません。

SENTEのジュエリーに用いている「光学ガラス」は、
その一般的なガラスとは出発点から異なります。

光学ガラスの主な原材料は水晶。
水晶由来のシリカを用いることで、

・割れにくく、安定した強度を持つこと
・ジュエリーとして違和感のない軽さを保てること
・光をにごりなく通し、内部の表情をクリアに見せられること

といった特徴が生まれます。

硬さの指標としても、理論上はダイヤモンドに匹敵するレベルに近い硬さを持つとされ、
日常づかいに耐えうる耐久性と、透明感のある美しさを両立した素材です。

そのため、ガラスのジュエリーでありながら、

水の中をただよう気泡に、ひかりが宿ったようなリング。

SENTEの“儚い指環（ガラスリング）”シリーズのひとつである「Pure Gold Bubble Ring」は、
高品質な光学ガラスの中に、24金の小さな丸い粒を閉じ込めた特別なリングです。

金の粒が何層にも立体的に配置され、そこへ外から光が入り込むことで、
ガラス内部で光が乱反射し、さらに24金の粒ひとつひとつにも反射が重なります。

指先でそっと揺れるたびに、きらきらと微細な光が立ちのぼるような、
なんとも美しいひかりの景色が立ち現れます。

通常、24金はその柔らかさゆえに、ジュエリーとして単体で使うことは難しく、
多くの場合、他金属を混ぜて純度を落とした「K18」などの形で用いられます。

このリングでは、外側を光学ガラスで構成することで、
内部に24金そのものを封じ込めるという構造を実現。

：About Optical Glass

Ordinary glass is typically made from sand and related materials,
which tend to reflect light strongly and result in a heavier mass.
When used for jewellery, such glass can feel slightly weighty on the body.

The optical glass used in SENTE pieces is different from the very beginning.
Its primary raw material is quartz.

By using quartz-derived silica, this optical glass:

・Becomes more resistant to cracking and impact
・Maintains a comfortable lightness suitable for jewellery
・Transmits light with minimal cloudiness, keeping the inside clearly visible

In terms of hardness, it is said to approach a level comparable to diamond,
offering a balance of durability and clarity that is well-suited to everyday wear.

As a result, SENTE’s optical glass acts as a “vessel of light”:

・Less prone to breaking than ordinary glass
・Light and comfortable to wear
・Allowing the true colours of 24K gold or opal inside to be seen without distortion

Like tiny bubbles of light floating in clear water.

Part of SENTE’s “Hakanai Yubiwa” glass ring series,
the Pure Gold Bubble Ring encapsulates small spheres of pure 24K gold inside a body of high-quality optical glass.

Multiple layers of round gold particles are arranged three-dimensionally.
Light enters the glass, bounces within, and reflects off each tiny sphere,
creating a delicate, three-dimensional shimmer at your fingertips.

Normally, 24K gold is considered too soft to be used on its own in jewellery
and is often alloyed with other metals (such as 18K) for durability.

In this ring, however, the outer structure is made entirely of optical glass,
allowing pure 24K gold to be safely encapsulated inside.
This unique construction lets you enjoy the presence of pure gold together with the clarity of glass in a single minimal piece.

While there are other glass jewellery brands in the world,
many rely on coating metal onto the surface of the glass.
In contrast, the technique of fixing 24K gold inside the glass, in a floating, layered way,
is a proprietary method developed solely by SENTE’s designer, Takayuki Ota.

It is this original technique that makes the Pure Gold Bubble Ring possible—
a design born from new craftsmanship.
