このアートピースの出発点は、たぶん「丸いものを作りたい」ではなくて。
まず、服を作っていること。そこから始まっている気がします。

宇宙から見たら、服は宇宙服。
環境と身体のあいだに、ひとつ境界を引くもの。
寒さ、熱、湿度、光。
私たちはずっと“包まれながら”暮らしています。

次に視点は、足元へ落ちる。
自分たちはどこで生活しているのか。
土の上。
つまり、地球の上。

その「地球」を、手のひらに収めたい。
遠いはずのスケールを、日常の距離へ戻したい。
そんな順序で、球体のイメージに辿り着いたんじゃないかと思いました。

そこに、野球が重なる。
昔、野球をしていたデザイナーにとって、ボールは“形”である以前に、身体の記憶です。
握った瞬間に重さがわかって、輪郭がすぐ掴める。
手のひらにおさまる球体が、「地球」とリンクするのは自然だったはず。

だからこれは、手のひらに乗る小さい宇宙。
手のひらに乗る小さい地球。
陶器で作った、青い惑星です。

作品に添えられた言葉も、そのまま置いておきます。

・ってことは、そもそも全部宇宙服じゃね？？

Translating “time” into garment structure.

Garments that quietly shift their contours as they receive everyday fluctuations—light, body temperature, humidity, movement, mood.
Details are not decoration, but an entry point to “how to use.”

I don’t think this piece began with “I want to make something round.”
The order feels more like this.

First, there is clothing—because the designer designs garments.
And at some point, a thought arrives: from space, clothing is a spacesuit.
A boundary between the body and the environment—cold, heat, humidity, light.
We live while being quietly “wrapped” by something.

Then the viewpoint drops to our feet:
Where do we actually live?
On soil. Which means—on Earth.

So perhaps the designer wanted to bring that “Earth” back into a distance you can feel.
To shrink a universe-scale idea into something you can hold.

That’s where baseball enters.

A sphere that fits perfectly in the palm.
A form whose weight and outline you understand instantly.
And because baseball was close to the designer—because he used to play—the ball is not merely a shape.
It is time stored in the body.

So the Earth becomes a baseball.
A small universe. A small Earth.
A blue planet, made in pottery.

The text attached to the piece says it lightly, almost like a joke—yet it hits the core.
