【キッドモヘヤトロピカル──シャープな構築性と、自然な揺らぎの共存】

このシャツに用いているのは、**葛利毛織（くずりけおり）**が手がける、特別な「キッドモヘヤトロピカル」。
itochiが数シーズンにわたり信頼を置く、定番にして唯一無二のマテリアルです。

キッドモヘヤとは、生後1年以内のアンゴラ山羊から採れる、非常に繊細で光沢のある繊維。
一般的なモヘヤに比べて毛質がやわらかく、チクチク感がなく、しなやかなドレープ性と控えめな光沢を持っています。
そのキッドモヘヤに、Super100’sクラスの細番手ウールを掛け合わせて織られたのが、この“トロピカルウール”。

「トロピカル」とは、通気性と軽さを追求した平織りのウール地を指します。
この素材では、経糸にキッドモヘヤ、緯糸にSuper100’sウールを使用し、シャリ感のある清涼な肌触りと適度なハリと弾性が共存する、類まれな風合いに仕上がっています。

さらに注目すべきは、**織機に「ションヘル織機」**が用いられていること。
高速で大量生産を前提とする現代の織機とは異なり、ションヘル織機は非常に低速で丁寧に織り上げる“旧式織機”。
その時間をかけた織りによって、糸に過度なテンションがかからず、天然素材本来の柔らかさと膨らみが生地の中に保たれます。
着用とともに少しずつ身体になじみ、しなやかなドレープが生まれるのは、この織機ならではの“余白”のある織りによるものです。

過剰な主張を避けることで、素材のもつ建築的なハリと、自然素材ならではの揺らぎがそのまま立ち上がる構成に。

Kid Mohair Tropical — Where Sharp Structure Meets Natural Fluidity

This shirt is crafted from a distinctive fabric known as Kid Mohair Tropical, woven by Kuzuri Keori, one of Japan’s rare mills renowned for their uncompromising textile craftsmanship.
It has become a trusted staple in itochi’s lineup over several seasons—a material that stands alone.

Kid mohair is a delicate, lustrous fiber obtained from Angora goats under one year old.
Compared to regular mohair, it is softer, smoother, and gentler on the skin, with a subtle sheen and a naturally flowing drape.
When blended with Super 100’s fine worsted wool, the result is this exceptional “tropical wool.”

The term tropical refers to a lightweight plain-weave wool developed for warm climates, prized for its breathability and airy texture.
In this case, kid mohair is used in the warp, and Super 100’s wool in the weft, creating a fabric with both a crisp, cool hand and a firm yet flexible structure—an unusual harmony of contrast.

Another defining aspect is the use of a “Shonher loom”, a vintage shuttle loom known for its slow and deliberate weaving process.
Unlike modern high-speed looms optimized for efficiency, the Shonher weaves at a languid pace, preserving the natural loft and softness of the fibers by keeping tension minimal.
This slow weave introduces a kind of “margin” into the cloth—one that allows the fabric to breathe, move, and age gracefully with the wearer.
As time passes, the garment molds gently to the body, and a unique drape begins to emerge, as if the fabric remembers your shape.
